Vanessa and Aiden will forever live in my head and my heart! The Wall of Winnipeg and Me has been one of my favorite reads, so I had to go back and re-read this book to review it! The only thing that I would of loved ... is more of this book and maybe to get inside of Aiden's head to know what he was thinking throughout this book! The book is in Vanessa's point of view but the author does a pretty good job by the end of the book to let you know how Aiden felt and how long he was probably feeling that way. This book starts out where Vanessa is Aiden's assistant but she had been wanting to quit for some time. It was always her plan to save up money so she could start her own business and finally put her degree to use. She tries to be nice when she finally comes out with her plan and give Aiden enough time to find a replacement but Aiden ends up pissing Vanessa off and she quits before he gets a replacement. Jump a few weeks later and Aiden just starts showing up at Vanessa's apartment and begging her to come back. Finally he offers her a deal she cannot pass up and asks her to marry him in order for him to get his U.S. citizenship. I devoured this book and enjoyed reading it the second time around just as much as I enjoyed it the first time. This is a 5 star read and since I haven't read any other books by Mariana Zapata, I'm thinking I will need to change that!
Favorite Excerpt:
Aiden was pissed. Pissed. The king of control looked like he wanted to rip apart my sister’s boyfriend/husband/whatever the hell he was.
And it was what he said next that tore me in half.
The Wall of Winnipeg stared down at the much smaller man, and in a voice that was as close to a cool, unattached statement as possible, he said, “Touch my wife again, and I’ll break every bone in your goddamn body.”
My wife. Not Vanessa. He’d gone with my wife.
He’d cussed. For me. For my honor. He’d said the ‘G’ word and it was just about the most romantic thing I’d ever heard in my life because Aiden didn’t do that.
