The Sweetest Oblivion by Danielle Lori

Tik Tok made me read it .... and I do not regret it at all!!! I really loved this book. Nico and Elena were just everything! Elena grew up in the mafia world so she knows what's expected of a daughter of a don but that doesn't mean she's thrilled about the world she grew up in. Her sister is being forced into an arranged marriage and Elena feels slightly guilty that it's her sister and not her that's being married off first, since she's older. Nico is from another rival Mafia family and he is going to be marrying Elena's younger sister. Elena decides she doesn't like Nico, especially with some of things she's heard about him and the first time she sees him, she can't help herself and she glares at him. Nico is curious about Elena, all he's heard about her is how she's the Sweet Abelli but every encounter he has with her, she's anything but. Not the mention that he's attracted to her, along with every male that's not related to her. They have a lot of chemistry and I loved reading how they tried to keep things platonic and not succumb to their attraction to one another. This book was really well written and I couldn't put it down. 5 Stars!!!!

Favorite Excerpt:

“So loyal to your family,” he said quietly. “Yet you listened to me and not your papà. Why? Preventing a war?”

That’s what he expected. I could read it in the way he looked at me with a sort of forced detachment.

I did it because it felt right.

An unfamiliar ache began in my chest. A need for him to know.

I met his gaze, as golden as the glass of whiskey beside me.

“Maybe I wanted to,” I whispered.

He watched me for so many seconds it made my pulse race. He closed his eyes and shook his head. “Come on. Let’s go inside.” He grabbed my hand and tugged me along.

I followed.

He was comfort, security, and need, all in one.

It had a name.

Home.
