So The Sophomore is not the first book where you can meet Jackson and Ellie but it's definitely the story we needed to hear about these two! If you haven't read The Callahans book series, check those books out! I love how so many of Monica's books take place in the same "world." The Sophomore takes place, Jackson's second year of college. You don't have to read the other books to be able to enjoy this story but it helps to read them to understand how long Ellie has been in love with Jackson. Ellie is a freshman at the same college that Jackson attends and they have been friends for years. Jackson has been fully aware that Ellie has been wanting more with him than he has allowed. Jackson is too afraid to lose her friendship or hurt her so he's friend-zoned her and kept her there. Ellie is over it though and decides that if Jackson doesn't want her, she's going to move on and find someone who will give her what she wants. It's so good once Jackson realizes that he wants more with Ellie and that he can't sit back and watch someone else take what he wants and needs. I loved this book! It was so good! I would give it 4 stars and tell you to really check out Monica's books, they are soooo good!

"You do something different with your hair?"
She immediately touched it. "I got it cut."
"I like it, El. You're looking fine, for sure." I nod and smile, like I'm an easy going agreeable, straight-up homie.
I'm not though. I can tell she wants to get rid of me, and I know why. She's probably interested in this dude. I can tell he's definitely interested in her, by the way he's looking at her right fucking now.
I don't like it. Not one bit. I bet she only just met this guy, and I can't help feeling overprotective of her.
