The Fake Zone by Mariah Dietz is a fake dating college sports romance. I have read a few books by Mariah before and really enjoyed them. The Grey is a college football player on a scholarship. Mila is best friends with one of Grey's teammates and they have been around each other a lot the last two years but have never really gotten to know each other and have just stayed acquaintances. That all changes when Grey is at a dinner and needs Mila to pretend to be his girlfriend. Mila goes along with Grey's request and even gets roped into doing it a few more time and Grey tells her he "owes" her. So Mila cashes in on it and gets Grey to agree to train her how to fight and in self defense. This book was good, it has the sports romance and fake dating which are two of my favorite tropes and it even has a little suspense. 4 stars.

Favorite Excerpts:
“I was going to sleep on the couch at Hudson’s anyway. I’m—”
“If you sleep on the couch, I’m sleeping on the couch. We’ll fit a lot better here.”
This gives her pause. “Why would you sleep on the couch?”
“Because I’m not sleeping in a separate room.”
“This is just a … precaution. An extra precaution. It’s not as though he can get into the building.”
I shake my head. “Brush your teeth and get into bed.”
“I—”
“I will pick you up and put you in this bed.”
___________
“Tell me you think about me. Tell me you can’t stop thinking about the other morning. About me being inside of you.”
A blush that has nothing to do with embarrassment and entirely to do with desire flushes my cheeks. “Constantly.”
His head angles back a fraction, his relief palpable. “Mila,” my name is a prayer on his lips. “It’s you.”
“What?”
“My type is you.”
