Silent Vows by Jill Ramsower is an arranged marriage mafia romance. Noemi's mother recently died in a car accident that Noemi was in and since the accident, Noemi has been mute and unable to speak. Connor is part of the Irish mafia and agrees to marry an Italian girl and when he's shown a picture of Noemi and learns she is mute, he's intrigued and decides to learn more about her. Once Connor meets Noemi, he decides there's more to her than people think and he decides he wants her to be his bride. Noemi agrees to the marriage because she wants to get away from her father. This marriage was arranged but it didn't take long for these two to develop feelings for each other. I really enjoyed this book. I give it 4 stars.

“You have something to say? Because I’m pretty sure this is breaking the rules.”
I swallowed, my throat suddenly parched. “I need to know why you’re doing this. Why did you agree to marry me?” The Irish would survive just fine without the alliance. It was helpful but not imperative. I didn’t know what I was looking for by asking, but I needed to hear his answer.
He let the question marinate for a long minute before answering. “Duty to my family. The acquisition of power. Sultry green eyes and a fiery disposition. You pick a day; I’ll give you a reason. It changes by the minute.”
