Cruel Saints by Michelle Heard is a dark mafia, arranged marriage romance. Elena is a mafia princess who has been locked up and hidden away her entire life. Lucian is the son of the head of the mafia and is training to take his father's place soon. They both end up at the same place and are immediately drawn to each other but Elena has dealt with a lot of trauma and doesn't trust any men and Lucian has always been taught not to trust anyone but his father. It doesn't stop them from getting closer though and for Lucian to fall for Elena quickly. Elena starts to believe she can trust Lucian and begs him for help which he promises her. Lucian arranges for them to be married but Elena feels betrayed and it takes her more time to fall for Lucian. For me this book was more mafia suspense with a little romance but I still enjoyed it but it just took me a little bit to get into this book. I would give it 4 stars.

When she pulls back, she lowers her hand to the bandage on my side, the sight of it seeming to cause her pain. Probably more than I’m feeling.
“I’m okay,” I say once again.
She shakes her head. “Sei la miglior cosa che mi sia capitata,” she whispers. “Sei il mio tutto.”

The words settle deep in my heart. They burrow into my soul.
