Throwback Thursday- So this is a re-read for me. I read this book awhile back and it's still one of those books that I still think about. Asher Black is the perfect Alpha and I love being in Lucy's head. The book is all in Lucy's point of view, so I do wish we could know more about what Asher was thinking about during certain events. I would for sure read a book in his point of view. Lucy is starting her junior year at a new college, her new roommate convinces her to have a night out and go clubbing. While at the club, Lucy meets Asher but she has no idea that Asher is a dangerous man who used to be the "fixer" for the mafia. They have a sexy moment outside the club but Asher gets called away unexpectedly and Lucy finds herself witnessing what she thinks is a crime against a girl on the hallway outside the bathroom. So she does the right thing and calls the police, only the girl was never in trouble and Lucy finds out she just called the cops on Asher who owns the club. I loved hearing Lucy's thoughts throughout the book. Watching her be scared for a month after the club incident, not being able to sleep and waiting for the mafia to come after her and when Asher finally tracks her down it was so good! Asher explains that she owes him a favor .... eventually the favor ends up being pretending to be his fiancee. I really loved reading this book again and I would suggest you to check this book out if you haven't read it yet! For me it was fun with a little suspense, a lot of angst and some sexy heat! Definitely a 5 star for me!
Favorite Excerpt:
I realize who it is immediately.
Asher Black.
Oh, God.
I feel the panic instantly kicking in.
Is he here to kill me?
I must have said that aloud, because the serious look on his face is replaced with one of amusement. It cuts through his frosty demeanor like the ultimate icebreaker but does nothing to ease my concern.
"Am I that scary?" he asks, a brow arching in doubt.
I swallow and nod.
If this was a cartoon, there would be an audible gulp coming from me.
His brow returns to its normal position. "Serves me right."
Asher's eyes darken, the icy blue transforming to navy in a heartbeat, and I see the hint of danger there. It's always been there, but the shadows accentuate it until I can't focus on anything else.
"In all honestly, I was here to ..." His eyes dart around the room, probably looking for eavesdroppers.
It's a fruitless effort. We both know everyone will be paying attention as soon as they realize he's here.
He glares at someone and lowers his voice until I'm straining to hear it. "...take care of you."
